From Cross, Cradle and Beyond
I scroll through
the lonely sundry market on a winter's day.
Up above the lights glow
The streets dance in the sun’s golden hue
Everything is crystal; except me and you
The strings of heart I weave for you
The million more miles I walk through and through
to make you come back to me
All seem as futile as the market’s melting snow.
I shall sing a lullaby for you
I shall dance a dance for you too
Sitting and pondering over your passing this winter’s day
As I cradled you in my arms and you cried away
But stopped too short, just a few hours
And your short pulseless form in a coffin lay
I had cried that day and will cry ever more
For I dream a sweet dream to sing a lullaby for you
Your solitary sundry form on that winter's day
Shall forever in my baby cradle lay
I look back and realise that it was always meant to be this way
Me a loner, you a wanderer
But you wandered too far that winter's day
Far away; too far away
To the lord’s feet; let the lord be glad
Forever shall I call you mine
My baby of that sundry winter day
Wandering among the empty streets
Wandering among the empty cradles
Wandering forever and forever
Leaving me, the loner, to wait for the end of "forever"
Ah, this Sundry Winter's Day
